Clearing, repair, replacement
Guttering, Fascia & Soffit in Dublin
Water pouring over the edge of a gutter is rarely just the gutter. By the time it's visibly overflowing, it's usually blocked, sagging or undersized — and if the wall underneath is staining, the fascia board behind the gutter has often started going too.
Why gutters fail in Dublin specifically
Mature tree cover on a lot of Dublin's older roads means gutters silt up with leaf debris faster than a newer estate with little planting — and a gutter that's blocked for a full winter holds standing water against the fascia board behind it, which is timber on most pre-2000s houses and starts to rot from the back where nobody looks. On coastal and exposed sites, fixings corrode faster than the gutter itself wears out, so a gutter that looks structurally fine can still be a few loose brackets away from sagging in the next storm.
We clear and inspect the whole run, not just the obviously blocked section, and tell you honestly whether it needs a clean, a partial repair, or a full replacement.
uPVC vs aluminium vs cast iron
uPVC is the standard replacement for most Dublin semis — lightest on cost, low maintenance. Aluminium costs more but handles exposed or coastal sites better and holds its shape over a longer span. Cast iron shows up on older period properties and, where it's original and sound, is often worth repairing rather than replacing for how it looks on the house.
